Presenting the top 14 most awesome TV character couples, who everyone loves almost as much as they love each other.

Around the world, stores are now draped in pink and red. They’re stocked up with heart-shaped candy boxes, teddy bears and roses. Yessiree, Cupid is in town for Valentine’s Day.

A TV show is not complete without some beautiful romance. With not long at all to go to buy something special for your secret admirer, I thought it was time to do a countdown in of our favourite TV character couples – in no particular order.

This list wasn’t easy to create because there are so many amazing TV shows from all different eras to consider in this romantic countdown. Therefore, I decided to go with some well-known favourites to capture your heart in some aww moments!

1. Homer and Marge Simpson (The Simpsons)

Even with all the trouble that Homer finds himself in, Marge not only loves her husband with all her heart, but is always there for him. They have been married for over 20 years, which is a landmark in TV land. The couple proves to us that even during hard times or silly mistakes, it is important to support and be there for each other to work out any problem.

And let’s be real, it’s only fair that one of the best TV comedies ever featured in this list of the best TV couples.

2. Buffy and Angel (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

The irony of a forbidden love! A vampire slayer falling in love with a 200-year-old vampire with a soul. Despite their massive age gap, their love was true. But not without consequences.  If you’re a fan of the show, you will know what I mean!

3. Jon and Yigrette (Game of Thrones)

You know nothing Jon Snow. Oh, but we do know this is pure romance at its best. Not only did these two characters have a special romance beyond the wall, but it also developed off-screen. Kit and Rose in real life are getting hitched!

4. Seth and Summer (The O.C)

We all develop that crush on someone special, that one person that we wished would not only like us back but be our partner in crime. Well, it just so happened to work out for Seth. In high school, he finally captured the heart of his dream girl, Summer. This couple was adorable together, and really excelled at making you feel sad you hadn’t found your one true love yet (thanks?).

5. Derek aka McDreamy and Meredith (Grey’s Anatomy)

This good-looking couple had the right chemistry from the start. Despite some obstacles they experienced, they eventually got together. Even though many women wished McDreamy was with them (he is rather handsome), they couldn’t deny these two were great together.

6. Carol and Mike Brady (The Brady Bunch)

This was a lovely story of how a lady met a fellow. Carol was bringing up three girls all with golden hair, meanwhile Mike was bringing up three young boys. This couple showed us you can still find a great love after another has dwindled. Even though the children didn’t always get along, they still were one big happy family!

7. Marshall and Lily (How I Met Your Mother

The college sweethearts and best friends are literally the perfect couple. They even have the perfect nickname for each other; Marshmallow and Lilypad. They really know how to make each other happy and above all show us a relationship can be fun with the right person. #relationshipgoals

8. Jim and Pam (The Office)

A place of work can be a golden opportunity to find that perfect person you wish to spend the rest of your life with. This is exactly what happened with Jim and Pam. Since meeting in The Office, and having such a spark between the two of them despite years of not acting on it (oh all those flirty moments), the two are happily married with a family after meeting at the workplace. So cute!

9. Zack and Kelly (Saved by the Bell)

Zack and Kelly were the ‘it’ couple in high school. It was a cliche having the popular cheerleader dating the jock, but it was the cutest romance ever. Despite the difficult times they shared, they worked it out. These school sweethearts even got hitched!

10. Monica and Chandler (Friends)

This couple is a total favourite. Monica and Chandler happened to be in the same group of friends when Cupid struck. Even though they were friends first, it didn’t stop a romance blossoming between the pair. With similar personalities and a deep connection to each other, we got to witness the lovebirds get married. So sweet!

11. Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl)

The couple that is ultimately made for each other. Somehow no matter the number of times this couple broke up or had their dramas in the upper east side, they were like magnets and would drift back to each other’s arms. ‘Three words. Eight letters. Say it and I am yours’.

12. Mulder and Scully (The X-Files)

After many years working on some very strange cases, this couple eventually got the love bug. The chemistry between the two throughout the show was evident and it was about time they got romantically involved – to the happiness of many fans. This couple showed us that not only is a good working relationship and friendship important, it can also make for a wonderful love story.

13.Cam and Mitchell (Modern Family)

The perfect example that two opposites can attract and still have a loving relationship. Despite many differences and plenty of arguments along the way, this couple not only support each other, listen to one another, and want the best for their cute family, but at the same time love one another for who they are.

14. Captain Hook and Emma Swan (Once Upon a Time)

This couple had to make the list because deep down we all want our happily ever after. Two unlikely characters end up falling head over heels for each other. No matter what dangers that lurk in Storybrooke, they are able to get back together for us to believe love isn’t just a fairy tale.

And there you have it – 14 of the very best TV couples!

I apologise if your favourite wasn’t there. I totally agree many more couples should be included in the list but it was difficult to narrow this one down (and you know, I couldn’t resist doing 14 for the 14th).

Notably some other awesome couples that should have been announced like in the wedding section of a newspaper include: Carrie and Big from Sex and the City; Booth and Brennan from Bones; Bill and Sookie from True Blood; Rachel and Ross from Friends; Gomez and Mortica from The Addams Family; Fran Fine and Maxwell Sheffield from The Nanny; Connor and Oliver from How to get away with Murder; Joey and Pacey from Dawson’s Creek, Lois Lane and Clark Kent from Smallville; Willow and Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Prince Charming and Snow White from Once Upon a Time; Lorelai Gilmore and Luke Danes from Gilmore Girls; Dan and Roseanne from Roseanne. And finally one of my personal favourites Spike and Drusilla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There are so many great couples to consider that really do make you believe love is in the air!

A very special couple that isn’t technically dating just yet is Brienne of Tarth and Tormund from Game of Thrones. I actually hope they make the list of ‘Best TV Couples of All Time’. I think you will also agree on this one if you love the show just like me. Love is definitely growing between this couple, can’t you tell?
