Who wants an X-Men X-23 movie? Us, that’s who. (And probably everyone else in the world).
Logan director James Mangold is keen on a directing a new X-Men movie starring Dafne Keen as X-23. This new X-Men X-23 movie may be a game changer.
The new comic books have X-23 replacing Wolverine, so it makes complete sense to make a new X-Men film with X-23. She is the new badass on the block. With Hugh Jackman no longer playing Wolverine, a femme fatal version of this character could be an awesome way to move the narrative forward without trying to copy what Hugh Jackman has done so well for 17 years.
We will miss Hugh as Wolverine, but Dafne Keen as X-23 was so good that we totally support this new X-Men X-23 film idea.
One of the masterminds behind X-23, Craig Kyle, was pretty happy with Dafne Keen’s portrayal of the mutant on screen.
He pitched some awesome story lines from the comics that could take place in the new X-Men X-23 film. Kyle told THR’s Heat Vision:
“I’d love to see some of the stories that we told [in the comics], see as much as we can of how she came to be, but then really get into the stories of what she was forced to do an commit. She said she killed people. She said bad people. The bulk of who X-23 and Laura killed in the comic books were bad people, but she did kill some children. She did kill a whole press corps. I think there’s something powerful about watching her go through those horrors without any say and without any ability to not take those actions.”
Oh my god, this sounds so exciting I can barely contain myself! I’m literally drooling right now! Craig Kyle also said:
“A story I always wanted to tell was, once she’s free and once she’s gone through what she’s gone through, the only way she can have a hope for a future is for her to go back and trace the lives that remained and were harmed by the actions she was forced to commit. You put her on this journey of redemption… She can go through them one by one and face everyone affected by the murders she was forced to commit, if she can get to the end of that road without being killed by those that remain, there’s something on the other side of that.”
With Logan being such a huge success, it’s pretty unlikely that this will be the end of the X-Men solo movie franchise.
It’s such a big money maker and X-Men fans are always keen to see the comics brought to life on the big screen. Nothing has been confirmed yet but all the right people are pretty to keep the X-Men movies coming. Audiences loved X-23 in Logan so it looks like she could be the next X-Men star.
It’s kind of bitter sweet. On one hand we say goodbye to an iconic run of Wolverine films starring Hugh Jackman, but on the other hand, we welcome X-23. Do you support this new film in the works? What do you want see in the next X-Men film?
