Warner Bros. is already undergoing serious talks about a spinoff film starring Margot Robbie as her devilishly insane character Harley Quinn.
Robbie agreed to a multi-picture contract when signing with DC Entertainment’s for her major role in ‘Suicide Squad’, meaning that it was already expected for her to be in any future sequel or solo spinoff.
Yet, ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ rumoured that “the project is not a Quinn solo movie.
Rather, it would focus on several of DC’s female heroes and villains, with names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey surfacing,” however more concrete details have yet to be released, as Warner Bros. remain secretive. On the other hand, it can be confirmed that the ‘no named’ film has already shown ties towards a female writer.
Quinn’s growing popularity and giant fan-base has taken her from initially being the sidekick and girlfriend of the Joker up the ranks to being a star on centre-stage.
So to no surprise do we see Warner Bros. deciding to take on board this spinoff with open arms. If this film does take off successfully, the project will see Harley Quinn in the second ever female-lead movie in the DC Extended Universe franchise, following the 2017 release of ‘Wonder Woman.’
You can go catch a screening of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn on the big screen from August 4th in ‘Suicide Squad’.
